Outcry grows as TUT student’s death spurs calls for justice

The tragic death of Thabelo Mbau, a Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) engineering student, has sparked outrage amid allegations of police brutality in eMalahleni.
Mbau succumbed to injuries sustained during an incident on Saturday, March 9, where police dispersed students outside Khayalethu Student Residences.
Eyewitnesses recount police shoving and pushing students, with Mbau reportedly singled out and assaulted.

Despite immediate medical attention at Witbank Hospital, his injuries proved fatal.

The ANC Youth League in Nkangala expressed shock and demanded swift action, joining a planned SASCO march on Monday, March 11, against police brutality.
Calls for the removal and arrest of implicated officers intensify.
