Stray bullet kills woman in Ackerville in eMalahleni – police seek public assistance in locating suspect

No arrests have been made.

A 67-year-old woman lost her life due to a stray bullet in Ackerville’s Ebhudzini area.

Police received a distressing call on Sunday, March 3 at 09:40, prompting a swift response to the scene where the elderly woman was found lifeless next to a local tuck shop.

According to reports, preliminary investigations indicate that the elderly woman was an innocent bystander, struck by a stray bullet while at the tuck shop.

Despite immediate medical attention, paramedics sadly declared her dead at the scene.

Detective Warrant Officer Vusimuzi Mnguni is leading the investigation and urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in apprehending the suspect.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this senseless crime.

Vosman Police Station spokesperson, Captain Elizabeth Hlathi said, “We urge anyone with information to contact Mnguni at 079 529 1057.”
