Vosman Police fight to alleviate poverty in township communities

The police donated over 100 pairs of school shoes and twenty food parcels to the elderly.

Vosman Police Station in collaboration with Emalahleni Local Municipality, EMA Community Development, and stakeholders recently visited the Lynnville community and left footprints.

The police went above their call of duty and donated over 100 pairs of school shoes to primary school learners.

In the same breath, they ensured that elders in the community and surrounding areas do not go to bed on an empty stomach.

Twenty families were identified by the police with the help of the local municipal councillors, and food parcels were handed over to the respective families.

Vosman Police Station Captain Vusi Mnisi thanked the municipality for the guidance leading up to the event, “This event was initiated by Women and Men for Change, structured derived from Vosman Police,” Mnisi expressed.

Learners from 17 primary schools were identified by educators and deemed eligible for the donation, for the learners to be able to go to school.

The local municipality’s acting Executive Mayor Faith Msibi emphasised the importance of improving the standard of education in township schools.

“We need to ensure that access to education in our communities is quality. We are tasked with the responsibility of distributing an education that should be able to respond to our country’s economic needs,” Msibi outlined.

Samancor Human Resource Specialist, Mr Jafta Mahlangu said the main objective was to support local projects, scout for projects that benefit the community, tap in, and assist them financially.

“We saw it fit to be in partnership with the stakeholders that organised this campaign and have the opportunity to donate 100 pairs of school shoes and 260 lunch packs for children,” said Mahlangu.
