Inkosi Nsizwa Mahlangu hosts Christmas party for the elderly

We want to do something positive and we also take care of our health we encouraged each other to teach our children the right things.

Inkosi Nsizwa Mahlangu of Mrhetjha Royal House hosted a Christmas party for the elderly at his royal home.

In partnership with other stakeholders Inkosi Mahlangu thought that this was a good time to bring the elderly together to show them love and showered them with gifts.

The event was held at the royal house in Hlalanikahle on Saturday, December 16.Inkosi had partnered with Kakaramba Foundation, Sisonke Foundation and One Goal Football Foundation.

One of the speakers Gogo Bushy Mazibuko of Sisonke Foundation said she used to work with abused children for more than 20 years and after that, she formed the Sisonke Foundation for the elderly.

They gather every day for training, advise each other and have trips every year.

He said they train together, advise and support each other and celebrate their birthdays.

“We also participate in the golden games; we have travelled all over the country representing the province. We want to do something positive and we also take care of our health we encourage each other to teach our children the right things, we teach them to care, to love and to support each other. Teach and tell your children and grandchildren the truth. Children are a blessing from God; teach them to pray and to love. Elderly groups who want to invite us are welcome to do so,” said Gogo Bushy.

Lucia Nkosi gave a presentation about wills and how one goes about drawing a will.

She advised the elderly that they need to do well in order to avoid problems when they pass away.

The elderly were taken step by step on how to draw a will and given a chance to ask questions.

Finah Mokgaetsi Madihlaba of One Football Foundation said she feels blessed standing and speaking in front of elderly people.

She felt that all elderly people to her are her parents and thanked the role they played in bringing up children and grandchildren.

A speaker from Kakaramba Foundation spoke about the dangers of substance abuse.

Inkosi Mahlangu together with his queen, Kagiso who is originally from the Bafokeng Royal House thanked the community members for the support she has been given for the past 17 years in her marriage to the Mahlangu royal house.

Inkosi Mahlangu thanked his partners for their support and for making sure that the event was a success.

He pointed out that he has visited schools and was involved with other community projects and saw a need to balance his activities.

“The elderly are very close to my heart and we tend to forget them, I want to make this Christmas party a yearly thing. We need to show them love while they are still alive. We need to support them in whatever way we can. The plan is to have a bigger and better event next year. After all the hardships they go through all the year we need to put a smile on their faces,” explained Inkosi Mahlangu.

The elderly people were presented with blankets and sanitisers.

Inkosi Mahlangu added that the royal house is prepared to help the elderly in the area to draw their will for free and they need to register their names in order to be afforded the service.

Messages of support were received from the traditional healers, mining companies, neighbours and other stakeholders.
