The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) has recognised excellence in the nursing field.

On Thursday, September 28 all attendees dressed in traditional attire to celebrate seven nurses nominated for the Marilyn Lihana Caring Awards held at The Ridge.

Nelisiwe Ngwenya from Witbank Hospital were nominated as first runner-up.

The awards aim to honour and celebrate nursing staff that go over and above in the nursing field.

One nurse from the Witbank Hospital, Esther Phasha walked away with the honour of being the overall winner.

Another nurse from the Witbank Hospital, Nelisiwe Ngwenya, came second and was awarded as the first runner-up.

Overall winner Esther Phasha will continue to compete for the national title when she represents the province.
