Collaboration led to the safe return of initiates

Seventeen young men aged between 15 and 21 years old left their homes without the permission of their parents.

The intervention of Ndabezitha Nsizwa Mahlangu of Hlalanikahle led to the safe return of 17 young men aged between 15 and 21 years old in Ga-Nala Kriel.

 

According to the report from the police, the initiates left their homes on Wednesday, May 17 without the permission of their parents and they were then sought by their families. 

 

A team consisting of members of the police working in conjunction with the traditional leadership led by Mahlangu managed to bring back all the initiates safely and in good health on Thursday, May 18 at about 11:00.

 

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has expressed her gratitude to the traditional leadership that worked corporately and in collaboration with the SAPS which resulted in the safe return of the initiates.

 

The general further thanked Mr Mandla Stanley Mahlangu and Mr Bhuti Mnguni for their unwavering support throughout the quest to locate the initiates. 

 

Inkosi Mahlangu pointed out that he was appointed by the Mpumalanga Department of Co-Operative Governance & Traditional Affairs to be in charge of all initiates in all the townships of Mpumalanga.
