Biker loses life in crash – passenger needs to undergo reconstructive surgery

Condolences are streaming in after the fatal crash wherein a biker from Ga-Nala was killed.

Gypsy Jokers MC South Africa’s Facebook is flooded with condolences after the fatal crash wherein one of their own died.

The crash that claimed the life of Jaco Gerrits (47) happened on May 7.

Gerrits and his passenger were on their way back home to Ga-Nala when they crashed into another vehicle.

Gerrits was a mechanical foreman at Sereti and also an active member of the Gypsy Jokers Mpumalanga chapter.

His funeral is taking place on Saturday, May 20 at 09:00 at Victory Life Church in Ga-Nala.

Gerrits’ passenger is still in the hospital and she has to undergo reconstructive surgery.

“She does not have medical aid and therefore needs each and everyone’s help to undergo reconstructive surgery on her right leg. Without the surgery, there is a good chance that she will never regain full mobility or worse, she might lose her leg due to her femur that is completely crushed,” said a friend, Ms Bronwyn Havemann.

Havemann said a bank account has been opened to help pay for medical costs.

Gerrits leaves behind two children, his mother and also his sister.
