Robbers tell woman to keep quiet or she will be shot

Residents are being warned not to do things that could make them the victims of criminals, especially after hours when criminals are more likely to be out and about.

A family suffered trauma and lost goods worth thousands of rands during an armed robbery at their house.

The incident took place on March 31 at around 23:00 on Kestell Street in Extenciuon 10.

According to police, the complainant was busy doing laundry when she went outside to hang the clothes on the line. As she opened the kitchen door to leave, three men whom she didn’t know stopped her and shoved her back inside the house, two of whom were armed with firearms.

After fetching her daughter from the room and telling them to take a seat in the kitchen corner, they issue a threat to shoot her if she doesn’t stay quiet.

The robbers took entire pieces of furniture from the house before they fled.

Witbank Police spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau, advised the public to maintain continuous vigilance and refrain from exposing themselves to potential offenders who may be nearby.

“You should always wait until the following day to hang out your laundry. There are many criminals out there who are constantly looking for their next victim, and this could place other people in danger,” said Ratau.
