Drums, paint and action at Wellness Hub

Paint and exercise go hand-in-hand at the Wellness Hub.

It was all drumming and paint mixed into a fast-paced, upbeat drumming session at the Unicorn Wellness Hub this weekend.

Chantel Maré and Chanelle Opperman.

On March 31, Chantelle Vorster was the captain of this workout ship with young and old following her lead.

Each of the participants received a paint-covered box with two sticks to drum with.

Marinda Jacobs and Anneke Basson.

With the lights off you could see the paint fly while the participants received a good workout.

The wellness hub is also known for other workout routines held during the week such as boxing, Zumba, and overall workouts to help the participants stay in shape.

Maritsa Henning and Samantha de Beer.

Exercise does not only promote health but also helps with mental health.

Chantelle said that working out is the main goal and in this case, it did not disappoint.

Anneke Basson, Marizanne Boyes and Veronica Oosthuizen.

Chantelle also said before starting the workout, that the purple paint used represents more than just paint, but also paints a message that everyone deserves respect, “we are tired of what’s happening around us every day, gender-based violence is rife in our communities and that is why we chose the colour purple,” Chantelle said.

Anneke Basson who joined in on the fun said that she could feel the workout in her whole body because of the stretches and hard-hitting action used in the workout.

She also said that her favourite exercise apart from this one is the stepping workout conducted by the Wellness Hub during the week.

The Wellness Hub emphasises bringing working out and having fun together.

Chantelle Vorster.

Chantelle said that the splash and pound exercise was held to celebrate the first birthday of the Unicorn Wellness Hub.

“Instead of just having a party, we decided to do a fundraiser for our Non Profit Organization,” she added.

“The Hub has many more exciting projects coming up and we can not contain ourselves,” Chantelle concluded.
