Ecufe and Glencore donate school uniforms to schools around KwaGuqa

Ecufe Secretary Godfrey Skhosana said he is humbled by the action undertaken by Glencore identifying the recipients in need and donating towards them.

Emalahleni Community Uprising for Employment (Ecufe) in collaboration with Glencore and through assistance from Love Life Ezinambeni distributed school uniforms to destitute children.

Members of Ecufe said they are hoping this intervention will do more to uplift their community.

Godfrey Skhosana, Secretary of Ecufe said it was an honour to be invited by Glencore to form part of the drive/initiative to deliver the much-needed school uniforms to some of the schools in KwaGuqa namely in the areas of Mmakgobana, Empucukweni and Ezinambeni.

He said the smiles on the faces of the recipients really enlightened his heart. “We were humbled to bear witness to the shades of the trees we all are working hard to plant, starting to form and bear fruits as well,” he said. The secretary went on to say that it is encouraging to recognise that big companies are willing to turn the tides and to tripartite the initiative heading towards the direction that everyone could in the future be proud of. “If most companies with other formations could come on board and help each other to find solutions, we would be far as a country. The shades from the planted trees would really be enjoyed by these generations and other generations to come,” said Skhosana.

The leadership of Ecufe and the members of the campaign said they are truly humbled and blessed by the kind of action undertaken by Glencore and other Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) like Love Life as the contributor for collectively identifying the recipients in need and donations.

Ecufe and Glencore donated school uniforms to Mmakgobana Combined School.

The secretary also touched on how these initiatives, however small they may seem, have a huge impact and is an opportunity for the government to redirect its resources to where they are much needed. “That is how the structures and forums are imperative; however they must really understand their role and do much for the society instead of elevating self-interest,” said Skhosana.
