Blancheville is not a dumping site
Expect a fine added onto your municipal account when you are caught dumping.
Not even a month has gone by since the newly constructed bridge on Second Avenue was officially opened, and it is already causing a headache.
People were caught dumping right next to the bridge on Friday, January 27.
During the official opening just before Christmas, the Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality, Clr Conny Nkalitshana said this area should be cleaned by the municipality and the grass next to the bridge be kept short.
That did not happen and people are using the spot to illegally dump their rubbish.
Ward councillor Maureen Scheepers is outraged by the dumping.
“So much work went into this area and it angers and frustrates me that someone could see this new clean area and decide to dump there,” she said.
Scheepers has put in an urgent request to the Waste Management Department for a large ‘No Dumping’ sign and in the meantime, she urges all residents to immediately report dumping taking place there with a vehicle registration number so fines can be issued.
