Khulisa Solutions launch 16 Days of Activism

16 Days of Activism against Women and Children’s Abuse: Raising Awareness through Man-to-Man Talk.

As the 16 Days of Activism began, Khulisa Solutions, in collaboration with other stakeholders, took part in the fight to raise awareness about the abuse of women and children.

On Saturday, November 26, the organization’s staff members held an awareness campaign at Phola at Alliance Church, with an emphasis on young boys.

The event was unlike anything seen before.

16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women, Children, and Men was the title of the campaign.

The inclusion of ‘men’ is what distinguishes the national approach.

Phola’s young men flocked to learn more about the international initiative.

The main goal of the day was to teach them early on that violence is not a solution to any problem.

One of the speakers at the Lugotshwa Lusmanzi Dialogue Cycle with teenage soccer boys, Ndabezitha (chief) Sipho Sombali Mahlangu said, “The event was a success. We wanted to teach the young boys about gender-based violence and how women are treated, as well as how they should not mistreat other children at school because violence begins at a young age.”

Several speakers contributed to the discussion about peer pressure, financial well-being, grooming boys to become men, and the consequences of having a criminal record.

Khulisa Social Solutions senior social worker, Mrs Lungile Madlala, said, “It is difficult to change a man, but it is not difficult to teach a young man the right path. We can see an increase in teenage pregnancy and GBV, so this year we decided to implement the Lugotshwa Lusmanzi Dialogue Cycle with teenage boys.”
