It was chaos Thursday evening after an accident on the infamous R555.

This accident happened at about 17:45 in peak traffic.

According to Mr Tiaan Strydom, who has ambulance and emergency experience, a taxi was chasing a truck after an altercation between the drivers earlier.

“I knew there was an accident coming so I followed the two vehicles. The truck failed to stop at the three-way stop at the Puma Garage and crashed into one car after the other. It was chaos,” Strydom said.

Strydom immediately assessed the scene and helped a man who was stuck in his vehicle. The man later died in hospital.

The victim’s name is withheld because his next of kin has not formally identified him yet.

All the other patients were treated on scene and transported to nearby hospitals.
