Crime ‒ house robbers’ favourite ‘exercise’

An alleged house robbery occurred in Model Park on November 2 when a man came home from the gym and had three unwelcome visitors that pointed him with a firearm.

The end of the year is swiftly approaching, but it appears to be no reason for house robbers to sit back after an alleged house robbery earlier this month.

It is believed that the incident occurred on November 2 in Model Park.

The victim allegedly came home from a gym and placed his clothes outside when he saw three men, one of which pointed at him with a firearm and instructed him into a room.

After some time, the victim allegedly did not hear any voices and left the room to find that the perpetrators had taken property from his home.

Residents must remain vigilant when they return home.

Although they may take their fitness seriously, house robbers may not hesitate to ‘exercise’ by taking their property.

The SAPS provides, among others, the following safety tips at home:

Ensure at all times that all doors are locked and that windows are closed when you are not at home.

Large dogs serve as a deterrent.

Train at least one dog to sleep inside the house.

Inform your family/neighbours of your intended destination when you leave your residence.

Also, inform them of the time you expect to return and the route you will be driving, especially if you reside in a rural area.

Vary your daily routine and implement proper key control measures.
