Jazz Palace mastered Coal City Masters

Even though City Masters were the better team from the onset, Jazz Palace had a plan for the champions.

In one of the Emalahleni Masters League matches Coal City Masters, the last season’s league champions had it tough when they played against Jazz Palace.

This was one of the games fixtures played at the Puma Stadium on Sunday, October 2.

Even though City Masters were the better team from the onset, Jazz Palace had a plan for the champions. With well-known players, City Masters is known for having some of the best players in the league.

Palace had a place-kick and the shot was blocked in their attempts to score an opening goal.

A Coal City Masters defender tried a back pass to his goalkeeper, only to score an own goal to make it 1-0 to Palace in the opening minutes of the first half. Coal City was the better team in terms of attacking.

In one of their attempts, Coal City had a shot hitting the crossbar with the goalkeeper being beaten, but saving the second shot. At one time, Palace caught Coal City on the attack break, but the shot was saved for a corner-kick. Palace led 1-0 at half-time.

In the second half, Coal City with new ideas forced Palace to defend, and they were rewarded when they score via a header to make it 1-1 after a good build-up towards Palace’s goalmouth.

With the team’s level at 1-1, it proved that it was anybody’s game going forward.

With a chance to increase the score, Palace tried their best, but Coal City proved to be very strong in defence and played well in the middle of the field.

Both teams made substitutes to secure the three points at hand, but Palace proved that they had a game plan for their opponents.

A Coal City player was sent off towards the end of the second half and with one player short, Palace increased the pressure.

A Palace player was lucky when Coal City goalkeeper left his goal line, and he looped a long shot into an empty net to make it 2-1.

As Coal City was searching for the equaliser to end the match on level terms, it was not to be. With play from one end to the other, the match ended with Palace gaining three points.
