Taxi driver was allegedly stabbed by another taxi driver

Police urge the community to come forward with any information regarding the incident.

A taxi driver tragically lost his life yesterday afternoon in Hoopoo Street, Reyno Ridge, when he was stabbed to death.

According to Witbank Police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall, the incident occurred at 14:00 when two taxi drivers stopped next to the road where an argument ensued about transporting school children.

A witness on the scene said that he intervened, and both drivers walked back to their vehicles.

According to the witness, one of the drivers took a knife from his taxi, ran back to the victim and stabbed him twice in the neck and once in the back.

He then fled from the scene in his taxi.

The witness proceeded to call emergency medical services and tried to stop the bleeding from the victim’s neck.

Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries before paramedics arrived.

“Witbank Police are requesting the community to contact the investigating officer, Colonel One Thobejane on 082 372 2195 or the crime stop number on 08600 10111 if they can assist with more information. Alternatively, members of the public can send information via MySAPAPP. All information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” Hall said in closing.
