Tavern and shebeen owners are invited to meet to prevent tragedies such as the two recent ones in Orlando and the Eastern Cape

All tavern and shebeen owners are encouraged to partake in this meeting

Following the recent tragedies in Enyobeni tavern in the Eastern Cape and Nomzamo Section in Orlando the spotlight now falls on how to prevent such incidents.

As part of public participation and engagement the Emalahleni Local Municipality realises it is befitting to engage with all relevant structures in order to combat the scourge of underage drinking and contravention of other legislations on the operation of tavern and shebeen establishments.

“We need to work together in tightening and enforcing the law to prevent such tragedies from happening in Emalahleni,” said municipal manager Mr Sizwe Mayisela.

A meeting whereby all stakeholders are invited to attend to address this matter will be held on Tuesday, July 19 at 10:00 in Emalahleni City Hall.

You can confirm your attendance with Mr P Makua: 076 176 6112 or Chief Delisiwe Motha: 066 383 6666.
