Mr Reddy appealed to the teachers to make a difference and change their attitude for the better and be team players.

Two teachers of Alex Mampana Primary School who dedicated their lives to serving in the school were given a send-off in a celebration held at the school.

A farewell function was held at the school in Klarinet on Thursday, June 23 for former principal Mr Deanen Reddy and Ms Joanah Marambane Ndlazi, a former teacher at the school.

Ms Xolile Mtshali, a teacher at the school, said that they had many reasons to celebrate the lives of the teachers for their noble service for many years. She said their excellent service needed to be noted for imparting their knowledge to future leaders. She added to say that they gained a lot and benefited from them.

Mr Reddy said when he started at the school, there was nothing. He was humbled and appreciated and thanked all the people who had contributed to the growth of the school. He said he was sure that the present principal will take the school to greater heights because they share the same vision. He added to say that dedication, commitment and the attitude of teachers play a major role in the lives of the children.

Mr Reddy appealed to the teachers to make a difference and change their attitude for the better and be team players. He also told them to share their vision with the other teachers.

Mr Reedy spend 12 years at school and 34 years in education.

“Mr Reddy had all the qualities of being a teacher. He was a parent, caring for the children. Even today, after he had retired, he still comes to the school. That shows how much he cares for the children. He has left a legacy and did a lot to take the school to what it is today. He had a vision and worked well with all the stakeholders. He was one of the best in terms of excellence and went the extra mile and built good relationships with neighbouring schools,” said circuit manager Ms Mamcy Mahlangu.

Ms Ndlazi said she started her career more than 27 years ago. She left teaching and went back to school to complete her Grade 12 and started again at Spring Valley in 1992.

She said it has been a journey worth living for, as she has met a lot of teachers along the way who helped her.

She said Mr Reddy was like a father to her as he encouraged, shared and guided her throughout her stay at the school.

Both the teachers were presented with awards for their dedication to the school.
