Cullinan2Tonteldoos was tough but good

Rudolf finished off strong after following a program from well-known athlete Patrice Gautier

Cyclists from all over were brave enough to take on the Cullinan2Tonteldoos mountain bike race this year.

The race took place on Saturday, April 23 with 300 cyclists at the starting line.

It’s a tough race because the total distance to cover is 260km in 24 hours with 3 200 meter ascents.

This year was the first Cullinan2Tonteldoos descent which started at Dunkeld Country Estate in Dullstroom and finished in Cullinan.

Patrice Gautier who is a well-known athlete from eMalahleni, has done several of these races before and just finished the IronMan.

He was approached by Rudolf Pretorius to train him.

“Besides my busy lifestyle with all my own training, I enjoy coaching other athletes as well,” said Patrice.

Patrice took up the challenge and started coaching Rudolf.

“Rudolf just got stronger and stronger over time on the bicycle,” said Patrice.

Ruldolf took part in the Cullinan2Tonteldoos race and he was cycling strong.

He finished the race in 10:21:51, finishing in 13th place over all and finished fourth place in the subvet category.
