Robbers in ‘wrong house’

A couple was recently held up in their house by three armed robbers.

Mr Richard Zwane told the thrilling tale of how the suspects sneaked into his home in Pine Ridge and caught him by surprise late Friday night, July 4.

“I opened up the gate when my wife returned home,” Zwane recalled, saying that his wife went to lock the gate a few minutes later.
“I went to my room to watch the soccer,” he further remembers and said that his wife was busy hanging their laundry outside, when the suspects must have found a way inside their house.

“Next thing I knew, a man came into the room pointing a firearm at me.”
The suspects demanded money and searched the house for valuables.

“They wanted to tie us up, but I told them it won’t be necessary, since we’re already cooperating,” Zwane stated. One of the robbers allegedly told Zwane that they had targeted the ‘wrong house’ as they had their eyes on a bigger prize.

Zwane and his wife kept calm and allowed the suspects to take what they wanted and leave. The robbers allegedly also took the house- and car keys along with their other loot that included several cell phones, cash, a PlayStation, computer and anything else they could carry out of the house.

After the suspects left the house, Zwane switched the lights off inside to check and see if they were really gone. After a while he activated the house alarm and went outside to find that the suspects had left behind the house- and car keys.

The suspects remain unknown and police warn residents to keep a lookout for these armed men.
