Young boy who assaulted his grandmother expected to appear in court on Thursday

The young man’s mental state is in question.

The 19-year-old who allegedly assaulted his grandmother appeared in court earlier this week.

On Tuesday, April 12 the young man made a brief appearance in Witbank Magistrates Court. The case was postponed until Thursday, April 14.

His mother, Ms Maria Riba said, “I’m very stressed about what happened and I don’t know how to respond. I will hear what the court has to say tomorrow, but I will also ask them to help me with taking him somewhere to get help”.

She is also expected to give information about her son’s mental state.

On Monday, April 4, the boy allegedly attacked Gogo Catherine Riba in her home at Vosman Ext 8 and later allegedly stabbed Timothy Malatji when he reprimanded him for beating an elderly woman.

The suspect is charged with two counts of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
