Robbers allegedly help themselves to cell phones in well-known clothing store

So called clients wanted more than client service

The Foschini store in the central business area was robbed.

The staff working in the store told police they were busy packing shelves and noticed some men walking around the store on March 27 just after 13:00.

According to the staff, the men left the shop, but one returned and asked for assistance with a cell phone.

The man allegedly took out a gun and told the staff to co-operate.

His cohorts apparently came back into the store and tied the terrified staff up with shoelaces and apparently fled with cell phones.

“Four unknown suspects entered the store as regular customers. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and instructed the store staff and customers to go to the back office while they proceeded to rob the store of cell phone merchandise before fleeing the scene,” Ms Jacqui O’Connor from The Foschini Group (TFG) said.

She added “Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. TFG has provided counselling services to its affected employees and customers.

TFG is fully cooperating with the South African Police Services’ investigation.
