[NOTICE] Water quality in eMalahleni does not meet standards

The developments in the quality of potable water will be communicated as when test are completed.

Residents and communities of Emalahleni Local Municipality are hereby informed of the water quality failures experienced in the potable water supply in the municipal area.
It has been observed that the potable water does not meet the minimum requirements as set out in
the water quality standard regulation (SANS 241:2015) during the conduction of regular water quality monitoring exercise.
The municipality and other stakeholders, District municipality and the Department of Water and Sanitation are hard at work to rectify the situation by conducting additional tests and
implementing mitigating measures.
The communities and water users are urged to treat the water first by boiling it in a clean container and or use of household bleach. The developments in the quality of potable water will be communicated as when test are
completed.
The following areas have been identified as having the potable water quality failures:
Greater Emalahleni
Ga Nala
Thubelihle
Phola
Ogies.
