Speaking to the media on Wednesday, head coach Russell Domingo explained that he and his technical team had an idea of what the batting order will be for the three-ODI series in Sri Lanka, with Kallis set to slot in at No 3.
“Jacques is back and he has held the No 3 position for a long time but hasn’t played a lot of ODI cricket recently so he will probably slot back into that position,” said Domingo.
“We have a good understanding of what our batting order is going to be and we are going to try and be as consistent as possible with it.”
JP Duminy, who has featured at No 3 in recent months, is expected to drop down the order to No 5 or No 6.
The three-ODI series commences in Colombo this Sunday.
