“We make a good team because we are friendly, we don’t fight, and we get along well with each other,” said Davian (17) who has been doing Gymnastics for 10 years.

Charne started four years ago at the age of seven. The pair was spotted at a competition by the federation in February and invited to try out for the South African team.

They have been working very hard to accomplish their goal, and recently all the work was worth it. However it is far from over for Davian and Charne, as they are set to compete at the Indo Pacific Championships being held at Sun City from July 2 to 5 where they will be representing South Africa.

It was also difficult juggling training and school work especially during the exams but leading up to the competition they feel confident in themselves to do their best, although they are nervous as well.

The prestigious competition is described as: “The Indo Pacific Championships serves as a great developmental event for emerging international athletes on the elite pathway within Trampoline Gymnastics.”

Davian and Charne would like to thank their family, friends and couaches for supporting them.

Siân Grundeling and Matome Tshishonga, coaches at Witbank Acro Gymnastics wish them well for their international career. “We are very proud of them,” said Sian and Matome.
