Parents set children free to go to school

New Grade R and 1 learners came in with smiles and beacons of hope as they were their journeys in school began.

Starting ‘big school’ for some children was not a problem as they were ready.

Hlangu Phala Primary School welcomed the scholars with open arms on their first day at school.

The school, like many other schools, opened their gates on Wednesday, January 12 for all learners.

Very few of the learners cried, which left the educators surprised and impressed as they saw that their children are ready for school.

Many parents were anxious as their babies had to leave the nest to start learning in a new environment. Phumzile Tlou accompanied her two children who are in Grade R and Grade 4 to school.

“I feel confident that my children will get the necessary education that they need,” said Phumzile.

She added that she registered her children at the school because it is close to home which saves money as no transport fees will be paid.

Elina Motau and Simphiwe Hlatshwayo had also accompanied their children to school with Phumzile.
