Approved Sassa special grant applicants will be paid

Sassa is encouraging those who have not been approved to appeal if they are not satisfied.

Mpumalanga South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) would like to ensure applicants who have been approved to get a grant that they will be paid and they must not panic.

Sassa on the national scale has received 8 836 723 and paid 7 487 538; the national benchmark is 85%.

In Mpumalanga Sassa has received 801 849 currently and paid 686 374 which amounts to 86% in comparison to the national scale benchmark SRD Covid-19 grant (R350) application as of October 13.

The new applications received 569 301 and return 651 499. The quad 777 meaning those without IDs Mpumalanga has received 12 applications which are in process.

Sassa is encouraging those who have not been approved to appeal if they are not satisfied.

The applicant application can be disapproved if the applicant is registered on UIF and NSFAS interface systems or any other assistance from the government and, receiving alternative income which exceeds an amount of R595 monthly as determined by the Social Assistance Act threshold on social grants.

If the applicant is not registered on the above-mentioned government-linked services or not receiving alternative income, the applicant has a right to appeal the decision by login to Sassa’s website and click on reconsideration.

This option requests the applicant’s ID number; the applicant can choose the relevant option or reason for a dispute.
