Detect and defeat cancer with Dr Thandeka

The month of October is also known as Cancer Awareness month.
The month is dedicated to creating awareness and the treatment of cancer.
Dr. Thandeka Ngcongo, who owns Orchid Medical Aesthetics decided to reach out to the community of eMalahleni to help spread the awareness.
Orchid Medical held a Prostate cancer screening on October 13 at the Civic Hall in the central business district.
The aim was to attract men to take prostate cancer screening seriously, to be able to treat it, if diagnosed.
Sister Thandi Mahlangu and Sharon Mohlala from the wellness department at the Emalahleni Local Municipality availed themselves to assist the doctor and her assistants.
Dr Thandeka mentioned that fewer people have been coming to screen since the pandemic started which is of great concern.
“We urge people to screen for cancer because early detection helps us treat cancer faster. Men and women of all ages should screen, especially if one has a history of cancer in their family,” added Dr. Thandeka.
Orchid Medical Aesthetics will be having a Breast Cancer scan and Pap smear drive on October 20 at the Civic Hall.
Medical aid will be accepted.
