13-year old learner arrested after drugs were allegedly distributed on school premisess of a high school in eMalahleni

The suspect was arrested and released into the custody of his grandparents.

A 13-year old learner from a local high school was arrested after a huge amount of drugs were allegedly found in his possession.

On Tuesday, October 12, a member from Witbank police’s ‘Adopt a Cop’ project got a complaint about a minor that is allegedly busy selling drugs on the school premises.

Sergeant David Ratau immediately visited the school and searched the school bag of the learner where he found a pencil case containing 57 bags of dagga.

The boy was arrested for dealing drugs and after his arrest, the suspect allegedly admitted to the police that he is selling the dagga at R15 a bag to his clients that is fellow learners at the school.

The suspect was arrested and released into the custody of his grandparents.

The teenage boy will appear in Witbank Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday, October 13) on a count of dealing drugs.

Brigadier Moses Bolten warned all scholars of eMalahleni that the possession and selling of drugs will not be tolerated at schools.

“Witbank SAPS will continue visiting all schools through the ‘Adopt a Cop’ project to ensure a safe and secure environment for all learners,” Brig Bolten concluded.
