Old Coronation residents demand answers after the killing of two ladies in a hit and run

Dimakatso Phatla Moratswi, a spokesperson from the Economic Freedom Fighters told WITBANK NEWS at the police station, what the memorandum and residents complaints are.

The residents of Old Coronation marched through eMalahleni to get justice regarding the suspected hit and run suspect that allegedly disappeared.

After the tragic incident that occurred on the R554 road heading to Paxton Correctional Services where two ladies lost their lives due to a hit and run, residents are now seeking answers.

The horrific accident was seen by numerous residents in the area on August 19.

Although there were a lot of eyewitnesses, on Monday, August 23 the group marched to court just to find that the suspect that was believed to be arrested for this crime did allegedly not appear in court.

“We are aware that the group are marching to the Police Station to hand over a memorandum for the suspect who hit the two ladies with a truck, to not get bail. The community of eMalahleni can be assured that the group of people marching are peaceful,” Cpt Eddie Hall, spokesperson of Witbank Police concluded.
