Various groups from the taxi associations and other role players in the community have been driving around eMalahleni making sure that businesses and shopping centres are safe against looting and vandalism.
On Thursday, July 15 these volunteers were driving around the city, stopping at the various shopping centres making sure everything was in order.
At Highveld Mall they walked through the mall with posters announcing, “No looting allowed in eMalahleni.”
“The group consisted of various community members, ANC members, EFF members, undercover police and LOTA Taxi Association representatives,” said Mr Jean- Pierre Bbenkele, General Manager of Highveld Mall.
After they walked through the mall they went to Mugg & Bean where they all received a hot cup of coffee and a freshly baked muffin – a small token of appreciation for their efforts in keeping the city and its residents safe.
