From a policewoman to beauty queen

Not only did this beautiful lady served our community in the police but wants to spread her wings and serve her community in another way...

Khomotso Maluleke was chosen as one of the semi-finalists in the Mrs Universe Africa competition, but for most of the residents in eMalahleni, she is known as Sgt Maluleke the former spokesperson from Vosman Police Station.

“I have been serving the eMalahleni community since 2007 as a police officer. I am a sergeant in the South African Police Service.

Not only did this beautiful lady served our community in the police but wants to spread her wings and serve her community in another way, what better way than taking the title and crown as Mrs Universe Africa?

But who is Cst Maluleke behind the blue uniform?

WITBANK NEWS interviewed her and found out that she is a loving and caring mother and wife too.

“I am married to one handsome man from Hlalanikahla in eMalahleni and we are blessed with such a beautiful son,” she proudly added.

She is not only a beautiful face as she has completed her Bachelor degree in Social Worker at the University of South Africa (UNISA) but did not stop studying after her first degree.

“I am currently studying South African Sign Language (SASL) at Witwatersrand University and was awarded Witbank Cluster Woman of the year in 2018 and 2019 at SAPS. I was also awarded at SAPS Mpumalanga Prestige Awards as Woman of the year 2019.

The reason she entered this pageant is that she always wanted to follow her dreams.

“Mrs Universe Africa is a great platform that will allow me to build my legacy. My dream is to build one of the biggest temporary places of safety in eMalahleni that will accommodate women and children who are involved in gender-based violence (GBV),” she added.

As she has observed that most of the women who want to move away from abusive relationships do not have a place to stay.

“The place of safety should also accommodate LGBTIQ+ community as they are also involved in GBV. The shelter will also have and create great job opportunities. Most of all I want to empower women who think that what is happening to them is normal in terms of abuse. These women who are abused are not aware that they are being abused,” said Khomotso.

Her main aim is to get the correct information out there so that these battered women know their rights as a human.

“The saddest part of all is that most toxic relationships affect children and these children end up practising what happened from home at their schools.

“That’s why today’s children are bullying each other at schools because the problem lays at their home. I need to encourage women to love themselves and put themselves first,” she further stated.

According to Khomotso the best life advice she can give is that “the time is now – life is a choice if you can’t beat them leave them for a better future. I am building a legacy for my community.”
