Sad ending for the family of missing Alpheus

His body was later found by Vosman Police and has since been identified by his family.

It was a sad ending for the family of the missing Alpheus Mabena when they received a devastating phonecall from Vosman Police Station requesting the family to identify the body of the late Mabena.

The elderly resident that went missing on April 29 this year was found, but not safe and unharmed.

WITBANK NEWS reported on the 72-year old after he went missing from his residence in Kwaguqa Ext 14.

He did not indicate where he was going and did not take any personal belongings with him. His body was later found by Vosman Police and has since been identified by his family.

Not only was he a father, husband and grandfather but had such a big impact on his family’s lives.

WITBANK NEWS spoke to Mabena’s granddaughter Mmathabo Skosana on the passing of her grandfather.

“My grandfather was a very bubbly person. He was always happy and he always had a helping hand. He loved going to church so much and he also loved random dancing,” said an emotional Skosana

Skosana further explained that what their family will miss the most about Mabena is his endless smile and laughter and how he used to help them in almost everything they were going through as a family.

“Most of all we will miss his presence. We want to thank each and everyone that had a part in finding our beloved grandfather. Because if it was not for Maureen Scheepers from the South African Community Crime Watch Missing person’s unit and the media creating awareness of him when he went missing we would still be searching for him,” she sadly concluded.

The cause of death has yet to be determined by time of print.
