Man dies after mob justice in KwaGuqa

Mob justice is cause for concern in KwaGuqa.

Mob justice is cause for concern after another man died because of the community taking the law into their own hands.

The acting Station Commander of Vosman, Colonel Solly Thobejane warns the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

His warning comes after a man was severely assaulted at KwaGuqa by the community suspecting him of attempting to steal a car. The man later died in hospital.

The man was assaulted on June 28 at around 08:45.

The community accused the man of breaking a Toyota Etios’ window and throwing a brick at the driver.

When the driver screamed for help, the community got hold of the suspected brick-thrower and started assaulting him.

“Police were summoned to the scene where they managed to rescue the victim and called medical personnel,” Captain Elizabeth Mkaudi from Vosman SAPS spokesperson told WITBANK NEWS.

A murder case has been opened as a result of this incident and police request anyone who has information that may lead to the arrest of those responsible for the death of this victim to contact Detective Captain Ntombifuthi Mogola at 082 375 3298.
