Residents of Klarinet Ext 7, staying near the main road are concerned about the number of accidents near their houses.

The residents raised their concern about the number of accidents that took place in the past months. Traffic going towards the circle to and from the city; some of them drive at a higher speed not considering that there is a traffic circle ahead.

The residents say that they cannot blame some of the drivers because there are no warning signs indicating the traffic circle ahead.

“Recently a Volkswagen Polo vehicle overturned, hit a palisade and crashed into a house near the main road. The driver of the vehicle unfortunately passed away,” said Kamogelo Ratau, a resident in the area.

Residents believe that the number of accidents can be minimized by putting up warning signs, street lights and stop signs.

A three-way street road with speed humps should be built to reduce the speeding vehicles in order to prevent accidents in the future. They will try and raise the issue of accidents with their ward counsellor and the municipality.
