One year in counting by putting back the dignity in ladies

This project has become a heart-warming outreach to the woman that is normally not even noticed.

The South African Community Crime Watch driven project ‘The Dignity Bag’ will be celebrating one year of restoring the dignity of local homeless and poverty-stricken woman this month.

WITBANK NEWS reported that their initial plan was to have the project run from the launch date that took place on Human Rights Day, March 21 and end on National Woman’s Day, August 9, 2020.

“We have decided to have the project run indefinitely as there is such a need from the woman of our city,” the founder of the project, Maureen Scheepers explained.

These bags are not only being used for the initial need of the poverty sticking, but also for other programs where we are involved such as when a woman is sent for rehabilitation or rescued from harsh situations and sent to a safe house, they all receive a dignity bag.

“The need for these bags are enormous and that’s why we would always like to have a steady amount in stock when the need arises, we have a bag available, Scheepers added.

This project has become a heart-warming outreach to the woman that is normally not even noticed.

“When you see a woman cry after receiving necessities, you know you are doing something right,” Scheepers concluded.

This is an ongoing project, with an ever-growing need for donations.
