Transnet pipeline thieves identified

Their bodies will be kept in one of the funeral parlours in Gauteng while waiting for repatriation back to Zimbabwe.

The two men that died after trying to steal fuel from a Transnet pipeline were identified by their next of kin.

Ngoni Nyamorola (27) and Vimbayi Magozi (35) are from Zimbabwe.

“Arrangement between the family and the police is underway,” said Hawks spokesperson for Mpumlanga, Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.

After finalising the identification processes the men will be kept in one of the funeral parlours in Gauteng while waiting for repatriation back to Zimbabwe.

Myamorola and Magozi died in hospital after they suffered severe burn wounds when the pipeline they were allegedly stealing fuel from exploded.

According to police, they were attempting to steal the fuel from Blesbokfontein Transnet Pipeline on Farm Klipfontein near Phola on January 21.

They were arrested on the scene after the Transnet control room detected a fuel pressure drop on the pipeline.

The men were transported to Witbank Hospital where they died.
