Four suspects are appearing in Witbank Magistrate Court this morning for violent crimes. The men will appear for house robbery and other cases that occurred in Lynnville. Capt Elizabeth Mkaudi, Vosman Police Station spokesperson said it is alleged that on December 29 at midnight the men went to a house in Lynnville where they pretended to be police officials and robbed the victims of their belongings and cash. In the second incident, the complainant alleged that he was relaxing at home with his family when they were attacked by three unknown men posing as police officials wearing reflector jackets.
“The suspects armed with a pistol gained entry to the house by forcing the door open,” Capt Mkaudi said.
The suspects apparently robbed the victims of their belongings and cash and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. During the arrest, police confiscated a Ford Fiesta belonging to one of the suspect’s fathers who died. Police also found one police and one security reflector jacket. The firearm that was allegedly used in the robberies has also been recovered. However, it was found to be a toy gun. It is alleged that the group of men also broke into another home in Lynnville on the same day while the occupants were not at home and helped themselves to a cell phone and some DVDs. The station commander Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu applauded the Crime Prevention team for the vigilance that led to the arrest of the suspects. Brig Ndlovu further said he is worried that three of the suspects are juveniles and indicated that these boys were expected to be leaders of tomorrow but unfortunately they chose to commit crime instead. Two of the suspects the 18-year-old and one of the juveniles have other active pending cases of theft as well as robbery with a firearm which will see them in court in February.
