Eskom can’t cut Emalahleni’s electricity

“This judgement does not mean we can sit back and relax, we now have to work on a repayment plan.”

Eskom has lost two appeals to cut power supply to Emalahleni and Thaba Chweu Municipalities.

The Supreme Court of Appeal deputy president Xola Mlungigi Petse delivered the judgement yesterday and a sigh of relief could be heard when he dismissed Eskom’s appeal.

Eskom has noted SCA’S judgement and the legal team is busy studying the contents of the judgement and will make a decision on the course to follow at a later stage.

Municipal spokesperson Mr Lebo Mofokeng said the municipality now has to it around the table with Eskom and come to a repayment agreement.

“This judgement does not mean we can sit back and relax, we now have to work on a repayment plan.”
