Business burglaries down but not out

Witbank SAPS reported that overall crime has seen a decrease since last month with one house robbery over the past weekend.

Two men broke into a woman’s house and threatened her with a knife, however she was not harmed as robbers escaped with her handbag.

Several business burglaries were also recently reported. On May 27 the owner of a vehicle fitment business locked up, locked all the windows late that night and went home.

He apparently received a phone call from the security company informing him of the break-in. The burglars appeared to have broken the window leading into the office and made off with a computer.

On May 28 the manager at a cell phone shop was locking up at about 17:00. He turned on the alarm and locked all the doors before going home.

However when he arrived at work early the next day the alarm had been triggered, burglars apparently removed the cash register and made off with the machine and its contents.
