Activism is a real thing

People from all around will be showing their support and effort in dealing with Gender-Based Violence during the 16 days.

International Day of No Violence against Woman, World Aids Day, International Day for Persons with Disabilities and International Human Rights Day are some key commemorative days during the 16 Days of Activism which takes place from November 25 to December 10.

Gender-Based violence has been highlighted by President Cyril Ramaphosa in September 2019, the government has since then implemented the Emergency Response Action Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.

The 16 Days of Activism plays an important part in the government’s response to Gender-Based violence. People from all around will be showing their support and effort in dealing with Gender-Based Violence during the 16 days.  

  You can join the fight by:

  • Do not look away when noticing drug use, report drug abusers you can save a life.
  • Do not engage with Gender-Based violence scenarios.
  • Practice good culture surrounding gender inequalities.
  • If you have bad habits that could be harmful to yourself and others, seek help.
  • Join and plan outreaches surrounding the importance of saying no to GBV.
  • Support people that have been victimized through GBV.
  • Raise and educate the younger generation about gender equality.
  • Take action on all social platforms and prevent the spread content of violence, pornography and sexual solicitation.
