On June 2 at about 10:00 the victim was apparently walking towards the bank with a black bag that allegedly contained a large sum of money.
A witness, who wishes not to be named, allegedly saw a car pull up near the victim and one of the robbers jumped out with a gun in hand.
The witness apparently heard two shot being fired and then saw the man fall to the ground. The robber grabbed the bag and jumped into the vehicle again before driving off.
The police and Langamed Emergency Management Services arrived on the scene within minutes to treat the injured victim and examine the evidence.
Sgt David Ratau said that the matter is being investigated. He cautions business owners to divide large sums of money into manageable pieces to be deposited instead of carrying one large sum of money. Anyone drawing money from an ATM as well should not draw excessive amount of cash.
