Watch: MEC urges taxi commuters on how to stay safe when travelling during the lockdown

“It’s important to be informed during the coronavirus lockdown especially while making use of public transport,’” is the advice from the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport Mpumalanga, Mr Gillion Mashego.

He visited the local taxi rank in die Central Business District on April, 9 where he handed out face masks and spoke to the commuters.

“Make sure to keep a safe distance between you and the next person when travelling during the lockdown time. This is not the time for socializing. Boost your immune system by taking in ginger, garlic and lemon,” was his sound advise.

Mr Mashego also sanitized some of the local taxi’s with the help of the Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Cllr Linah Malatjie.

Cllr Malatjie also said that lockdown is there to protect all and asked people to adhere to the rules and regulations.

She also gave a message of hope to the citizens of the city (see video).
