Perfect Combination is environmentally friendly

A group of young people is slowly reaching out to the community of KwaGuqa to clean the environment while at the same time teaching the community about the importance of recycling.

The group, Perfect Combination started with their project in 2003 and they have been volunteering their service for these past years though at times were forced to take a break because of challenges. The organisation has seven founding members, two females and five males, two of which are disabled.

The group whose main focus is on the environment and recycling says they are working very hard to reach their dreams. They have started cleaning an illegal dumping area in Luthuli Street in Lynnville and have been receiving positive response and necessary support from the city administrator Mr Theo Van Vuuren. The group would like to thank him for the support. According to the group members Mr Van Vuuren has made it possible for the group to employ 34 people for the Luthuli project.

The group started by clearing the area, have already planted grass and they are planning to erect a stone cone structure at the centre of the park. The group members were found watering the grass and collecting stones for their structure. A car wash is planned in one part of the park.

“We would like to thank all the stakeholders who supported us in the past. We are passionate about our dreams of a clean eMalahleni and teaching our community about recycling. We know in the end with the support from stakeholders and our community we will make it. Mr Van Vuurren has been behind our project for the past months, he has been an administrator of our city,” said a spokesperson of the group.

The members previously did door-to-door visits of the nearby houses telling the community about the project and explaining that they have received positive results and support from the people. The group also found a leaking pipe in the dumping site and blocked drains as well.
“We still need assistance in realizing our dream of turning the park into a beautiful place. We are also receiving positive results from the nearby Siyathele Pre School,” added a statement from the group.
