Spurs take the win against Vasco Da Gama

Witbank Spurs cruised to a two goal to one win against Vasco Da Gama at Puma Stadium.

Sunday marked the last game for the Spurs in the National Football Division 2013/2014 season. The goals were scored by Rhulani Manzini and Peter Mubayiwa.

“It has been one of those seasons we want to quickly forget. The position attained is far below what we intended achieving this season and also our home record was not satisfactory. The loss of our Chairman Lot Ndlovu and our inspirational midfielder Isaac Papa took its toll on the players and the team as a whole,” said George Khumalo, Spurs PRO.

Spurs fears losing a few players to the PSL teams. Three deals have already been confirmed with Sici Shelembe on his way to Bloemfontein Celtics and the Mubayiwa twins off to newly promoted Chippa United.

“The management is still waiting for the technical report from the technical team as to who else is leaving or those who are staying,” continued George.

Part of Spurs recruitment will be to conduct trials where aspiring youngsters will be afforded an opportunity to prove whether they are ready to make the grade. “We are also looking at bringing in a couple of experienced campaigners to beef up the remaining squad,” added George.
“Witbank Spurs would like to extend its hand of appreciation to Body Lab, Ricoh,Value Meat, Masemanzi Mining and Oasis water for their assistance throughout the season,” said George.

Spurs biggest thanks though, goes to their supporters and soccer loving individuals of the area, for their support – especially through trying times.

“Witbank Spurs will continue to represent the hope of the upcoming youngsters of our region and province whilst we are still chasing the bigger prize which is the PSL status, Siyavutha,” ended George.
