Bus hits truck from behind

As the morning was almost over and some labourers were making their way to work, a bus collided with a truck from behind, luckily leaving no seriously injured passengers.

The Mphakathi bus which was driven by David Xaba hit a truck driving in front of it. The accident happened on Wednesday, April 30 at about 10:15 on the old Middelburg Road, just after Clearwater Estates. The bus caused a minibus transporting Kusile workers to swerve off the road upon seeing the collision.

Mciniseni Malinga, the driver of the truck said that he just heard a bang and he stopped to see what had caused the commotion on one of the trailers he was pulling. The bus driver was not injured and the bus only sustained a broken windscreen.

The passengers on the minibus taxi were also not injured, but were treated for shock by Langamed paramedics. “They are very lucky to have seen the accident, otherwise it could have been another story. The patients are all fine and they are considered as ‘walking wounded’ due to their lack of serious injuries,” said Mr Dino Padayachee of LangaMed Emergency Services.
