Video: TUT eMalahleni shut down continues

The other group is protesting for the campus to reopen so they can continue with their lectures

Lectures have been cancelled at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) eMalahleni campus.

Students continue to protest against the alleged lack of equal allowance distribution to accredited and leased student accommodations and alleged corruption in a division of TUT.

The protest continued on Wednesday, February 12.

Two groups of students have formed where one still protesting for the distribution of the allowances to students at other residences and the alleged corruption.

The other group is protesting for the campus to reopen so they can continue with their lectures.

Witbank Police dispersed to the scene.

Witbank SAPS communications officer, Captain Eddie Hall, confirmed that the students are in engaging in a peaceful protest. “We are monitoring the issue. We have vehicles patrolling around. The students are not disrupting anything or destructing any infrastructure.”

The students are still protesting at the institution’s smaller entrance in France Quass Avenue.
