Third Baby box in the midst

The third baby safe box is almost ready to launch and will be fully functional and ready for use on January 15th.

As all living in eMalahleni wishes for a good year full of joy and good things, South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) once again showed how much they actually care.

WITBANK NEWS earlier reported on the SACCW initiative that had hit eMalahleni last year September providing the ever growing city with a very important resource.

WITBANK NEWS continuously did articles on the baby safe box project as the first box was installed in Mandela Drive at New Life Church and shortly thereafter the second baby safe box was installed in Vulture Street, Reyno Ridge.

The third baby safe box is almost ready to launch and will be fully functional and ready for use on January 15th.

The location of the third box was selected strategically to cover two “hot spot” areas for child abandonment according to statistics.

“The baby safe box will be installed in Hertzog Street to cover eMalahleni Central Business District (CBD) and Old Coronation.
We are trying to accommodate the mothers by placing the boxes in different areas of eMalahleni to ensure that everything goes smoothly when a mother does find herself in the position where she would need to use the box,”

said Maureen Scheepers, founder of the division.

The SACCW Baby Safe Box Division will be joining Rizpah Ministries for this site and both parties are very excited about this new partnership.

Rizpah Ministries cares for the needy children of eMalahleni. In six houses 50 children are given the chance in life through education, love and care.

“This is not the last baby safe box for our city; we have more sites ready and waiting. Should anyone be willing to assist with funding for these sites, they can contact me directly on 082 565 6770,” Scheepers added.

As for Ms Anet Jansen from Rizpah Ministries, “it is such a privilege for us to be involved in the project together with SACCW.

If we can save just one baby, it’s all worth it,” Jansen concluded.
