St Thomas 95 years of excellence

The founding principal, Mother Lucy Kaltenstadler, wholeheartedly believed that establishing the school in Witbank/eMalahleni was God’s will

St Thomas Aquinas School recently marked their 95th year of excellence in education with a special mass in the Catholic Cathedral of Christ the King.

Leading the special service was Father Chaka Motanyane, who briefly reminded the congregation of the school’s humble beginnings, when it was established in 1924 by the Dominican Sisters of King Williams Town.

The founding principal, Mother Lucy Kaltenstadler, wholeheartedly believed that establishing the school in Witbank/eMalahleni was God’s will.

Father Motanyane proceeded to ask the congregation to mention things they were grateful for.

The excited responses from the children included appreciation for the love and support of their parents, dedicated teachers, friends, and the gift of a good education.

The school was also blessed with the presence of some of the current Dominican Sisters of King Williams Town, Sister Katy van Wyk, Sister Geraldine Devine and Sister Margaret Schäffler (one of the former principals).
