Taxi and car collide on old Middelburg road
Yet another collision occurred on the old Middelburg road, where several fatal accidents have happened on the narrow stretch of road.
On Saturday, April 26 at 14:00 a car indicated to turn right onto a gravel road just past Olifants River bridge.
Apparently as they were waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, a taxi was approaching them from behind. According to witnesses the taxi tried to over take them on the right just as the driver was turning.
The taxi collided with them damaging the front of their vehicle before swerving off the road and driving over a sand embankment next to the road.
The drivers and passengers in both vehicles were not seriously injured. The long distance taxi was travelling on the Old Middelburg road through eMalahleni from Gauteng.
The narrow and busy Old Middelburg road has always been a high risk zone where more caution is expected from road users. Authorities warn drivers to keep to the speed limits and obey the rules of the road.
